We require candidates to have over 5 years of experience in Java development within the financial services sector. You should possess at least 2 years of hands-on experience with the Icon Payment Framework (IPF). A strong understanding of payment processing systems and messaging standards such as SWIFT, ISO 20022, SEPA, CHAPS, and FPS is essential. You should also be experienced in Spring Boot, REST APIs, JMS, and SQL/Oracle. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, JIRA, and Agile methodologies is important, as is having strong problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Responsibilities
In your role as an Icon Payment Framework (IPF) Developer, you will be responsible for designing and developing payment processing solutions using IPF and Java. Customization and extension of IPF modules to meet business and regulatory requirements will be part of your daily tasks. You will integrate Icon with upstream and downstream systems, including core banking, fraud, AML, SWIFT, SEPA, and FPS. Participation in the full software development lifecycle—from requirements gathering to deployment and support—is essential. We expect you to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that adheres to best practices and coding standards. Conducting unit testing, integration testing, and providing support for UAT and production deployments will also be part of your responsibilities. Collaboration with Business Analysts, Solution Architects, QA, and DevOps teams is key to delivering high-quality solutions. Additionally, you'll provide L3 support for production issues related to Icon and payment processing, and participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical workshops. Ensuring that all solutions comply with internal security, risk, and regulatory frameworks, such as PSD2 and ISO 20022, while maintaining technical documentation is also crucial.
Description
We are looking for a highly skilled developer to join our Payments Technology team. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining payment processing solutions using the Icon Payment Framework (IPF). We are based in Knutsford, and this position requires you to be on-site 2-3 days a week. Our compensation for this role is set at £460, and candidates must operate on a PAYE basis through an umbrella company. Additionally, preferred qualifications include exposure to cloud-native development (AWS, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), as well as knowledge of DevOps practices and automated testing frameworks. A financial services background, particularly in transaction banking or corporate payments, would be advantageous.
