Requirements
Must:
We are looking for a GCP Cloud Engineer with demonstrable experience in public cloud platforms. You should have expertise in infrastructure build and configurations for services, including Compute, Storage, and Networking. Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases, as well as integration services such as messaging and streams is essential. You need to have a background in building RESTful API services, working with containerization, Kubernetes, and serverless functions. Familiarity with microservices and distributed tracing is required, along with experience using enterprise logging, monitoring, and alerting frameworks (e.g., ELK, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana). Additionally, automation scripting skills using languages such as Terraform and Ansible are important. Experience with Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD), and continuous testing tools is necessary, along with the ability to work in an Agile environment. A good understanding of cryptography, including authentication and data encryption, is needed. Lastly, we value candidates who can quickly acquire new skills and tools and have good non-functional testing experience.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for deploying, configuring, and securing backend REST API services utilizing CSP native services. You will also deploy, configure, and secure containerized application runtimes using Infrastructure as Code. Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with DevOps and Security teams will be a key part of your duties, with a focus on traceability and regulatory controls. You will manage, monitor, and optimize cloud infrastructure across GCP, ensuring performance, resilience, cost-efficiency, and data security. Collaboration with infrastructure, architecture, and cybersecurity teams to meet internal risk, compliance, and governance requirements is essential. You will support live systems by conducting root cause analysis, fixing bugs, and implementing solutions for incidents and performance bottlenecks.
Description
This position is hybrid, with 60% of the time spent in the office and 40% remote, requiring three days on-site. The preferred location for this role is Sheffield; however, we are also open to candidates in Birmingham and Edinburgh. The duration of the project is until 31st December 2025, with a competitive daily rate of £550. This is a unique opportunity to contribute your skills to a leading global financial institution, working on impactful systems within a secure, high-availability environment. Experience in financial services or other regulated environments is desirable, along with programming skills in Python and Golang, as well as GCP certifications such as Google Cloud Engineer or GCP Cloud DevOps Engineer.
