Requirements
Must:
We are looking for candidates who possess a degree in a quantitative or engineering discipline (e.g., computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics, engineering) or equivalent work experience as a professional ML engineer or data scientist. You should have prior experience conducting user research for software development and a strong knowledge of generative AI and large language models. Additionally, strong skills in Python, including development and testing, are essential. You should also be familiar with agile practices and be able to thrive in agile software development environments, along with a solid understanding of modern software development tools such as Git and GitHub.
Responsibilities
In this role, I expect you to define and implement key safety metrics for generative AI applications, particularly those focused on language. You will perform user research to understand the application's risks and failure modes while integrating AI/ML components with frontend, backend, data, and compute infrastructure. It will be your responsibility to ensure high-quality software implementations according to best practices and to participate in code reviews. You will liaise with other technical staff and data engineers within the team and other allied teams to build an end-to-end pipeline that consumes other data products. Additionally, you will deliver ML- and data-driven insights on GenAI datasets.
Description
This position is for a Full Stack Software Engineer with a focus on AI/ML and is based in London with a hybrid working arrangement. The contract duration is six months, and the pay rate offered is £750 to £880 per day (via Umbrella - inside IR35). Competitive candidates will have a proven track record of writing and shipping quality, well-documented, and well-tested software in the AI/ML industry. We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience in the field of Responsible AI, especially in generative AI or language applications. An ideal candidate will also demonstrate a keen interest in the ethical and safety aspects of using AI, particularly in drug discovery and clinical settings.
