Requirements
Must:
- All applicants must hold an active SC clearance.
- Broad knowledge of JAVA / JAVA EE - current and legacy versions, including best practices and patterns for code migrations.
- Familiarity with continuous Integration/Delivery Pipelines (Jenkins or similar).
- Experience in setting up Test Automation Frameworks (Selenium, Cucumber, REST Assured).
- Proficiency in Configuration As Code (for example, Jenkinsfile, Ansible, or similar).
- Experience with Continuous Inspection Tooling (for example, SonarQube).
- A sound understanding of DevOps principles, practices, and philosophy.
- Strong communication skills.
Responsibilities
As a Java Software Engineer, I will play a lead role in transforming our client's legacy technology stack into a cloud-ready solution. This high-profile Programme requires me to provide strategic decision-making and technical leadership, while also sharing my Java expertise and offering advice to fellow engineers and architects. My responsibilities will include engaging with internal and external stakeholders using a consultative approach, identifying and down-selecting products, and solving complex problems through analytical reasoning. I will also need to be aware of security concerns and best practices and manage the deployment of large-scale systems.
Description
I am part of a global IT consultancy seeking multiple Java Developers to contribute to a flagship Programme with a key UK Government client in Law Enforcement. This project is pivotal in transforming outdated technologies and adopting modern DevOps practices.
Desirable skills for this role include experience with Cloud Providers (Azure, AWS), Configuration Management Tooling (GitLab or similar), Project/Issue Management Tooling (JIRA or similar), Infrastructure as Code (ARM Templates, Terraform), and Containerization (Docker, Podman) along with Container Orchestration Systems (Docker Swarm, Kubernetes).
