Requirements
Must:
- I require extensive Linux administration experience, preferably with RHEL.
- Proficiency in VMware administration, including vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
- Experience in Data Centre operations involving Blade Servers and SAN storage.
- A strong understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, and Cloud infrastructure principles is essential.
- Experience with automation tools, monitoring, and scripting (such as shell, Python, Ansible, etc.) is necessary.
- I value excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- You should be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle critical incidents efficiently.
Responsibilities
- I will need you to install, configure, and manage Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Oracle Linux) using automation where possible.
- You will maintain high availability and performance of Data Centre and Cloud systems, minimizing disruption due to change or incidents.
- I expect you to configure, manage, and monitor SAN storage, Blade Server infrastructure, and related hardware.
- You will administer VMware environments (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter), including VM deployment, migration, snapshots, and performance tuning.
- You need to configure and maintain Data Protection platforms such as Commvault, Dell EMC Networker, and Zerto.
- Collaboration with DBA, Network, Application, Systems, and Service Desk teams on projects, upgrades, migrations, and architecture improvements will be essential.
- You will conduct regular Disaster Recovery (DR) testing and maintain comprehensive DR documentation.
- Monitoring system performance, carrying out capacity planning, and optimizing resources for compute and storage environments will be part of your responsibilities.
- I expect you to maintain up-to-date documentation, diagrams, and runbooks for all systems and processes.
- Participation in an out-of-hours on-call rotation (1 in 5) and responding to critical incidents will be required.
- Staying current with emerging trends, best practices, and new technologies in Linux, virtualization, storage, and cloud computing is vital.

We are offering this position as a remote opportunity with a salary of up to £65,000 per annum, plus an on-call requirement (1 in 5). We are looking for an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to join our client, a global leader in the logistics industry. In this hands-on role, you will manage, maintain, and optimize Linux servers in virtualized and cloud environments while ensuring high availability, disaster recovery readiness, and seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams. The start date for this position is ASAP.
