Requirements
Must:
- Deep experience in on-premise data centres, bare-metal infrastructure, and private cloud platforms
- Strong experience with self-managed Kubernetes
- Proven track record of designing and building on-premise and private-cloud platforms
- Experience operating GPU-enabled infrastructure for workloads
- Proficient in building GitLab CI/CD pipelines and automating deployments
- Strong understanding of real-time, low-latency system design
- Comfortable acting as the final technical owner of a production platform
- 3+ years of hands-on platform engineering experience
**Strong Signals (Highly Valued)**
- Experience with bare-metal Kubernetes
- Experience with GPU scheduling and accelerator workloads
- Operating Kafka-based streaming platforms in production
- Familiarity with Terraform and GitOps workflows
- Experience in regulated or high-availability environments
- Background in telecoms, finance, or real-time systems
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate on-premise and private-cloud platforms in a leased data-centre environment
- Architect bare-metal Kubernetes clusters with self-managed control planes
- Own compute, networking, storage, and OS-level architecture
- Plan for low-latency, high-throughput, and high-availability systems
- Operate and support ML inference platforms and retraining pipelines
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, Kubernetes deployments, and application releases
- Monitor system performance and lead incident response
- Build and maintain observability stacks with Prometheus and Grafana
Description
We are looking for a Senior / Principal Platform Engineer to join our team based in Manchester. In this role, you will own the design and operation of a real-time AI platform, built from bare-metal infrastructure and private clouds. We offer a collaborative environment that emphasizes accountability, respect, and continuous improvement. This is a hands-on role where you will have the opportunity to operate on-premise data centers and lead infrastructure initiatives.
