Must:
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
- Experience in the BMS/controls industry, HVAC application, or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years in a project management or lead engineering role delivering projects in the UK.
- A proven track record of managing multiple projects valued between £50k and £2m+.
- Ideally, familiarity with BMS architecture, field controllers, networks (such as BACnet, Modbus, LON, KNX), and head-end software.
- A strong understanding of HVAC plant, control strategies, and energy management.
- A formal project management qualification.
- Excellent commercial awareness, including budgeting, procurement, variations, and final account agreement.
- A full UK driving license and a willingness to travel to sites nationwide (occasional overnight stays).
- The right to work in the UK.
- Excellent leadership qualities with a focus on team motivation, negotiation skills, organizational skills, time management proficiency, and strong communication skills.
Responsibilities
As a BMS Technical Project Manager, I will:
- Develop comprehensive project plans utilizing tools such as Microsoft Project, Visio, and SharePoint to track progress and resource allocation.
- Coordinate requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Manage project schedules through effective scheduling techniques, ensuring milestones are met while balancing scope, time, and budget constraints.
- Proactively monitor project risks and issues and develop mitigation strategies, including contingency measures.
- Prepare detailed documentation, including commissioning reports, handover sheets, and operational and maintenance manuals.
- Drive continuous improvement by applying best practices in project management methodologies.
Description
We are seeking an experienced BMS Technical Project Manager to lead the end-to-end design, delivery, and commissioning of Building Management Systems (BMS/BEMS) projects across commercial, industrial, and critical infrastructure sectors in the UK. This role combines strong technical expertise in building controls with proven project management skills. I will act as the primary technical authority on projects, ensuring systems meet client requirements, industry standards (e.g., CIBSE, BSRIA guidelines), and UK regulations, including Building Regulations Part L, health & safety (CDM 2015), and energy performance targets. Candidates without direct BMS experience are still encouraged to apply, provided they possess other automation experience or HVAC application knowledge, or have project management experience within the construction industry. Training on BMS can be provided to candidates who are willing to dedicate time to learn new skills.
