Requirements
Must:
- Strong experience architecting and operating large scale systems on AWS, ideally in high-availability or regulated environments.
- In-depth knowledge of core AWS services (ECS/EKS, EC2, S3, RDS/Aurora, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC, Lambda, Terraform/CloudFormation).
- Proficiency in Java coding and a working knowledge of other languages (Python, Go, etc.) for supporting services and automation.
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture, event-driven design, and integration patterns.
- Experience designing and managing containerized environments.
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline design using GitHub Actions, along with a good working knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform), observability, and monitoring tools.
- Solid knowledge of security architecture, identity management, and network segmentation in cloud environments.
- Good understanding of data flows, APIs, and asynchronous messaging (Kafka, SQS, SNS).
- Collaborative and pragmatic, with experience managing or leading technical delivery teams using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Responsibilities
As a Technical Architect, I will take ownership and drive the end-to-end architecture for our core insights platform. This involves overseeing infrastructure, data, security, and application layers. I will design and implement scalable, cost-effective AWS architectures that support high-throughput mission-critical IoT and data workloads, while also governing platform standards, documentation, and best practices across multiple engineering teams.
Additionally, I will lead the definition and enforcement of infrastructure as code (IaC), observability and automation frameworks, and the integration of streaming and messaging solutions such as Kafka, SQS, or SNS for data ingestion and event-driven processing. Collaboration will be key as I work alongside development, DevOps, and data engineering teams on various initiatives while championing security and compliance to adhere to GDPR, ISO27001, and data governance frameworks.
