Must:
We are looking for an experienced Linux Software Developer with a strong background in embedded Linux, particularly with Yocto and Debian frameworks. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Python programming, excellent C/C++ programming skills, and secondary experience with assembler. You should possess at least 5 years of experience developing, implementing, and debugging microcontrollers using an RTOS. A solid understanding of networking protocols as applied in router applications, such as tun/tap interfaces, DSCP, iptables, routing, and DNS & DHCP interception, is essential. Additionally, you should have strong experience with asynchronous message protocols and the ability to read and understand technical specifications published by international standards organizations. Proficiency in development tools associated with software development, including coding, version control, build, and defect tracking, as well as knowledge of test instruments related to software and hardware integration, is required.
Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing solutions across radio, IoT, and accessory platforms. Your key responsibilities will include designing, implementing, and testing high-quality software solutions that ensure seamless integration with hardware, all while adhering to agreed timelines and requirements. You will collaborate closely with our R&D, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams to provide technical expertise and resolve software-related issues. Additionally, you will contribute accurate timescale estimates and progress updates to the R&D Manager, assisting in shaping development strategies to align with project goals. Ensuring that all development activities adhere to departmental quality standards is crucial, and you will proactively communicate any risks or deviations. You will also be expected to build and maintain a deep understanding of our wider software suite, platforms, and tools. Finally, you will create and review user-facing documentation, including manuals and release notes, to support product management, manufacturing, and customer service teams.
Description
We are offering a competitive salary between £50,000 and £60,000 for this hybrid position, with office days located in Worcestershire. You will have the opportunity to work on both major new product developments and the ongoing maintenance of our existing projects.
