Requirements
Must:
I require experience as an Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, or in a similar role leading cross-functional teams. You should have deep expertise with Elasticsearch, including tuning, scaling, migrations, and relevance optimization. A strong background in ML, NLP, search, information retrieval, or related fields such as ranking models, vector databases, and personalization is essential. I am looking for a mix of strategic vision and hands-on capability, allowing you to guide architecture while being willing to engage directly when needed. Collaboration with Product, ML, and Analytics teams is critical, along with excellent communication skills to translate technical work into business impact.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead and grow a team of engineers working on core search systems. You will drive the architecture and technical strategy for search relevance, ranking, and retrieval. Partnering with Product, Data, and AI teams, you will define and deliver the search roadmap. You will oversee migration and optimization projects on Elasticsearch and the wider search stack. Troubleshooting and diagnosing complex search issues (such as ingestion pipelines and ranking signals) will also be a key part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will foster engineering excellence by mentoring team members and embedding best practices.
