Requirements
Must:
- Strong technical background within an MSP or multi-client environment
- Experience in Managed Service Provider environments (essential)
- Proficient with Microsoft stack: Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, Active Directory
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (routing, switching, VLANs, Wi-Fi)
- Familiarity with next-generation firewalls (e.g. Fortinet, Sophos, WatchGuard, Palo Alto, etc.)
- Comfortable spending a significant portion of time on client sites
- Prior experience managing engineers or readiness to take on a management role
- Confidence and professionalism when dealing with customers
Responsibilities
- Spending around 60% of your time on client sites, delivering hands-on engineering and technical leadership
- Acting as the senior escalation point across multiple customer environments
- Providing hands-on support across Microsoft technologies and core infrastructure
- Conducting client visits, technical reviews, and solution discussions
- Defining technical standards and improving service delivery
- Hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and managing support engineers as the team grows
- Working closely with the owners to shape the technical roadmap of the business

We are a small, privately owned IT Managed Service Provider, currently entering an exciting phase of growth. We are looking for a Technical Engineering Manager who enjoys close customer interaction and wishes to step into a leadership role while remaining technically hands-on. Located commutable to Basingstoke, this permanent, full-time position offers a salary between £50,000 and £65,000, along with a company car. We provide a genuine opportunity to build and lead an engineering team within a supportive, owner-managed environment.
