Requirements
Must:
- Previous experience within waste management, recycling, or metals industries
- Good working knowledge of plant machinery and site operations
- Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental standards
- Ability to identify areas for improvement and proactively resolve issues
- Willingness to support team members and take on additional responsibilities when needed
- Experience operating a weighbridge is advantageous
- Strong understanding of goods vehicles and site traffic management
- Banksman training (essential)
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organisational abilities

Responsibilities
- Monitor and direct all incoming and outgoing vehicle movements within the yard
- Inspect and assess incoming waste to ensure compliance with site permits
- Guide site users to the correct tipping and unloading areas
- Ensure all staff and visitors adhere to site rules and report any breaches
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organisation across the yard
- Report accidents and incidents in line with company procedures, supporting investigations where required
- Work closely with site management to support smooth and efficient operations
Description
We are offering an opportunity for a Yard Marshall / Banksman based in Didcot. This role is ideal for motivated and reliable individuals looking to join a busy waste management site. You will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the yard, maintaining high safety standards, and supporting overall site performance. We provide a full-time, 45-hour contract with overtime opportunities, alternate Saturday working, a workplace pension scheme, life assurance, 28 days holiday including bank holidays, company-provided PPE, and free on-site parking.
