Requirements
Must:
We are looking for a candidate who has proven experience in a security management role within nuclear, defense, or other highly regulated industries. You should possess a strong knowledge of UK nuclear security regulations and ONR/IAEA standards. Additionally, experience in leading and developing multidisciplinary security teams is essential. A demonstrable understanding of physical, personnel, and cyber security principles is required, along with excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, especially in liaising with regulators and emergency services. Strong crisis management, decision-making, and leadership abilities are critical for this role.
Desirable qualifications include a degree (or equivalent) in Security Management, Risk Management, or a related discipline, as well as being a Chartered Security Professional (CSyP) or a member of the Security Institute (SyI). Counter Terrorism awareness training and knowledge of cyber/IT security integration within physical security systems are also beneficial. Previous experience on a nuclear licensed site is preferred.

In this role, you will develop, implement, and oversee the Site Security Plan in alignment with ONR and regulatory requirements. You will lead, manage, and motivate the on-site security team, ensuring 24/7 protection of site operations. Acting as the principal point of contact with regulators, law enforcement, and other external security stakeholders will be a key part of your duties.
You will oversee physical security systems, including access control, CCTV, intruder detection, perimeter protection, and security infrastructure. Conducting and reviewing risk assessments, threat analyses, and security incident investigations will be essential to your role. You will manage security exercises, drills, and emergency response plans, ensuring readiness at all times. Providing security briefings, training, and awareness programs to staff, contractors, and visitors will also be part of your responsibilities. Furthermore, you will maintain robust procedures for vetting, clearances, and compliance with security clearance requirements, ensuring accurate documentation, reporting, and audits in line with nuclear security regulations and quality standards. Continuous review and improvement of site security arrangements to adapt to evolving threats and risks will be part of your ongoing responsibilities.
