We’re looking for a Systems Engineer who has extensive experience working in a senior technical team within a complex organization. You should have a strong background in managing both on-premise and cloud servers, with specific expertise in installing and supporting server operating systems and hardware like VMware ESXi in multi-site enterprise environments. A comprehensive understanding of managing live Microsoft Azure, networks, storage, security, backups, and system lifecycle management is essential.
Additionally, we expect you to take the initiative to manage incidents from escalation to resolution, forming effective matrix teams that you will lead. Proficiency in various tools, such as Microsoft 365 Admin Centre, Security, Compliance, Endpoint Manager, Azure AD, Exchange, SharePoint, and Teams, is necessary. Excellent cyber skills are crucial, along with the ability to assess infrastructure, incidents, and projects from a security perspective to proactively minimize risks.
Responsibilities
As a Systems Engineer reporting to the Live Services Manager, your primary responsibilities will include providing technical expertise for maintaining and supporting our live technology infrastructure. This will involve patching and upgrading network hardware, telephony, databases, middleware, and security monitoring.
You will design and implement meticulous update schedules to ensure that infrastructure components remain secure, resilient, and available within agreed Operational and Service Level Agreements. Additionally, you’ll be responsible for expertly configuring network infrastructure, firewalls, switches, and the Azure environment.
