Requirements
Must:
- A consultancy background with proven ability to partner with clients and stakeholders.
- Strong technical experience across Python, Node.js, TypeScript, and modern data engineering (Postgres).
- Exposure to AI/ML, particularly large language models, is highly desirable.
- Exceptional communication skills, able to clearly articulate technical ideas to non-technical audiences.
- An entrepreneurial mindset, excited by building something new, disruptive, and high impact.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of an AI-powered SaaS platform.
- Work across Python, Node, TypeScript, and Postgres, with a strong appreciation of data engineering best practices.
- Explore and apply cutting-edge AI technologies - experience with LLMs, Claude.AI, or Crew AI would be a huge advantage.
- Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and the wider team to shape product direction.
- Champion best practices in software engineering, from code quality to scalability.
- Grow with the product, from MVP through to market-leading scale.

As the Lead AI Software Engineer, you will combine hands-on technical expertise with a client-facing mindset, reporting to the Head of Engineering and working closely with the founders to support the growth of our product and team. With a salary range of £100,000 - £115,000 and equity options, you will be part of an exciting startup/scale-up with bold ambitions. We offer a remote-first work environment, with occasional team meet-ups in Manchester and client visits. This isn't just another engineering role; it's a chance to combine your consultancy background, technical depth, and commercial mindset to lead the development of a product that will transform an entire industry.
