Requirements
Must:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a Controls-based qualification.
- Ability to develop and design code for PLC and HMI systems.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding electrical and control schematics.
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to contribute ideas and new concepts to improve products.
Responsibilities
- I will develop and maintain our equipment using Allen Bradley PLCs Micro800, CompactLogix, and associated HMIs by writing well-structured PLC/HMI code.
- I will create function blocks in structured text and ladder logic, promoting our intuitive HMI style across all platforms.
- I will work with senior management to develop a clear Control Philosophy and, once agreed, a detailed Functional Design Specification (FDS) that leads to concise software and maintains documentation.
- I will integrate systems into the customer’s overall control system using Ethernet and Modbus protocols.
- I will troubleshoot issues with software and hardware in the Test department as needed.
- I will report, communicate, and collaborate with other departments as part of the team.
- I will plan and manage my own projects and work packages.
- I will assist in the commissioning and start-up of larger special projects when service needs arise.
- I will provide Tier 3 software support to colleagues and customers when necessary.

I am excited to find a talented Controls Engineer based in the Slough area. The main purpose of this role includes developing new PLC control system designs and maintaining current software by utilizing electrical schematics and Control Philosophy/FDS. Additionally, I will provide training to enhance software development skills and oversee testing of electrical, electronic, and control systems.
