Requirements
Must:
- A strong understanding of best practices for installing, configuring, and managing Microsoft Active Directory and its key components - TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, GPO, etc.
- Strong demonstrable experience in recovering Active Directory from directory corruption and other disaster scenarios.
- High level of experience in IT security, system administration, or a similar role focusing on security update management and system upgrades.
- Vast experience supporting Windows Server Operating Systems (Install, Configure, Manage).
- Demonstrable experience using MS Failover Clustering (Install, Configure, Manage).
- Demonstrable experience administering SCCM (Install, Configure, Manage) & SCOM.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles, vulnerability management, and system optimisation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and drive change collaboratively.
- High level of experience working in a highly governed and controlled IT environment.
- Experience mentoring others to achieve technical goals and aspirations.
Responsibilities
- Working closely within and alongside other teams within Technology Operations Cyber Security (TOCS) and third parties.
- Collaborating with project teams to manage and control changes within the environment effectively.
- Leading expertise in third-line support of Microsoft Active Directory and other enterprise services delivered to Virgin Money internal and external customers.
- Identifying, analysing, quantifying, and communicating technical risk within the banks on-premise and cloud platforms.
- Performing occasional evening or weekend work for patch deployments and system upgrades.
- Working closely with first and second-tier support teams to deliver professional and effective enterprise support.
- Engaging in project lifecycles, including design influence, infrastructure build, and testing.
- Supporting and mentoring Engineers within the immediate team.
- Participating in out-of-hours on-call rota duties for 24/7 cover.

We are seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to join our Platform as a Service (PaaS) team within the Chief Operating Office at Virgin Money. This senior technical authority will play a critical role in shaping and sustaining our enterprise Windows Server and Active Directory estates. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, along with strong leadership and strategic influence in incident response, change delivery, and lifecycle management. Our team thrives on collaboration and operational excellence, ensuring a stable, compliant, and resilient IT environment. This role offers a competitive salary range of £48,000 to £60,000 per annum DOE, hybrid working options, and exceptional benefits, including 25 days of holiday, private medical insurance, and a robust pension plan.
