We seek candidates who meet the following qualifications: - Education & Experience: You should hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or possess equivalent practical experience. We require at least 7 years of hands-on experience in backend development, specifically in high-availability and high-throughput systems in production. - Technical & Backend Skills: You must demonstrate expert-level proficiency with C++ or Go (Golang), with a minimum of 5 years of production experience. A strong background in designing, building, and scaling high-availability RESTful APIs for mobile or web clients is essential. You also need deep experience with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and event-driven patterns. Experience with real-time applications and data streaming technologies such as WebSockets, gRPC, or Kafka is important. Proven capability in integrating third-party AI/ML APIs into production systems is a must, alongside familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and managing services on cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Backend Engineer focused on Application & AI Orchestration, here’s what I will expect from you: - You will own the end-to-end backend architecture for our flagship conversational AI product, the Personal Welcome Manager. - You will design, build, and optimize the core AI orchestration pipeline that supports our product. - You will serve as the technical lead for our Buy, Don't Build AI strategy, integrating and evaluating third-party AI services. - You will implement core application logic for features such as intent-capture and post-call summarization. - You will design, build, and scale mission-critical, high-availability RESTful APIs for our mobile clients. - You will architect and manage real-time streaming data flows for our live transcription feature. - You will collaborate on designing a cloud-native, microservices-based architecture while ensuring adherence to our Zero Trust security standards. - You will implement comprehensive monitoring for the entire AI pipeline, focusing on key latency and quality metrics. - You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless user experiences and translate product requirements into technical solutions.

Our mission is to restore trust in global voice communication by building a network-native intelligence layer aimed at preventing fraud and creating secure, AI-powered user experiences. As a Phase 2 company, we are in the process of establishing our foundational engineering team, which will significantly shape our culture and success. In this role, you will be pivotal in developing our Personal Welcome Manager, an innovative product featuring an AI agent that screens unknown callers and allows mid-call user intervention. You will work in a hybrid environment, spending two days a week in our central London office and the remainder of your time working from home. We offer a competitive salary range of £130k-£160k, depending on experience.
