Requirements
Must:
- 3–5 years experience as a SQL Server DBA or similar
- Strong T-SQL skills and experience optimising queries
- Proven experience in performance tuning and database optimisation
- Ability to work closely with development teams
- Exposure to Azure SQL or cloud environments (desirable)
- Experience working with multiple databases in a production environment
- Experience in financial services or pensions (nice to have)
- Exposure to database monitoring tools (e.g. Redgate, SolarWinds) (nice to have)
- Understanding of HA/DR concepts (nice to have)
Responsibilities
- SQL Server administration across production and non-production environments
- Performance tuning, optimisation, and query refactoring
- Writing efficient T-SQL and analysing execution plans
- Supporting and collaborating with developers to improve database performance
- Contributing to Azure migration and cloud optimisation initiatives
- Managing backups, security, and database maintenance
Description
We are a well-established financial services organization undergoing a major cloud transformation, currently moving our SQL Server estate into Azure. This is an exciting new opportunity for a mid-level DBA who enjoys hands-on technical work and wants to play a key role in shaping a modern, cloud-first database environment. The position involves 1–2 days per month in the office in Midlands, London, or Sheffield, offering a salary between £45,000 and £55,000.
