Requirements
Must:
- Experience as a lead or principal data engineer.
- Prior experience designing data platform(s) within Google Cloud Platform (GCP), working hands-on with Airflow, BigQuery, Data Flow, Data Fusion, and Data Stream.
- Deep understanding of Data Mesh, decentralized design, and Data Lake/Warehouse solutions.
- Proven track record of leading teams of data engineers.
- Hands-on skills across the GCP tech stack, SQL, and Python.
- Ability to lead cultural change across organizations and manage senior stakeholders.
- Capability to work across multiple contexts and teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, best practices, and engineering strategy of data squads.
- Conduct hands-on data engineering work, utilizing both Python and SQL.
- Mentor and lead teams of engineers, reviewing code and setting standards.
- Ensure all data platform processes, including ingestion, quality, transformation, security, batch management, monitoring, alerting, and cost control, are efficient.
- Design and help build the data platform, ensuring data is processed through semantic layers and can be modeled effectively.
- Suggest improvements for automation and cost savings.
- Drive changes across the organization by adopting a decentralized design.

We are looking for a Principal Data Engineer to lead the design of our data platform within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). In this role, you will balance technical engineering, architecture, and leadership responsibilities, working remotely with in-office meetings once a month.
