Requirements

Must:
- Significant hands-on experience working in senior engineering roles within enterprise or service-provider environments - Demonstrable capability with advanced networking technologies covering enterprise routing and switching, secure network access, wireless solutions, and data centre fabrics - Strong working knowledge of multi-vendor networking and security products, including enterprise LAN/WAN, firewalling, SD-WAN, identity-based networking, and modern cloud security architectures - Practical experience in creating and reviewing technical designs, delivering projects end-to-end, and supporting large-scale enterprise environments - Strong understanding of current industry trends, evolving technologies, and best-practice frameworks - Ability to maintain high-quality documentation using tools such as Visio, Excel, and Word - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels - Confident working independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team culture - Strong commercial awareness and an ability to understand the broader business impact of technical decisions - Advanced certifications across major networking and security vendors (desirable) - Experience designing or supporting software-defined networking technologies, cloud-based security solutions, or public cloud networking components (desirable) - Scripting or automation experience with tools such as Python or Ansible (desirable) - Familiarity with carrier-grade networking environments or large-scale multisite architectures (desirable) - Experience working within an MSP or consultancy environment supporting enterprise and public-sector clients (desirable)

Responsibilities

- Operate as the principal network specialist across assigned customers, advising on architecture, service requirements, and long-term technical direction - Maintain a detailed understanding of each clients environment to inform design decisions, configuration changes, and optimisation strategies - Review solution designs and provide expert guidance to ensure technical integrity and alignment with industry best practice - Deliver robust implementation activities including build, configuration, testing, and documentation of complex network and security solutions - Develop and execute structured test plans to validate solution performance and ensure adherence to change-control and audit standards - Apply advanced troubleshooting and optimisation techniques to ensure high availability and peak performance of critical network services - Produce clear, high-quality design and implementation documentation for internal and client use - Contribute to the evolution of the organisations technology offerings through ongoing testing, research, and collaboration with vendors and partners - Implement strong security controls and compliance measures to safeguard customer environments - Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the overall service portfolio - Provide senior-level customer engagement, both written and verbal, during design, delivery, and support phases - Participate in an on-call rota supporting 24/7 service commitments - Maintain up-to-date vendor accreditations and certifications relevant to the role - Engage in regular knowledge sharing with peers across the engineering and operations teams
