Requirements
Must:
- Experience analysing and responding to IT security alerts or incidents.
- Experience working within a structured process or following defined SOPs in a large or complex organisation.
- Practical experience collaborating with a Security Operations Centre (SOC), service desk, or similar function.
- Understanding of common cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and the measures used to mitigate them.
- Knowledge of endpoint protection, identity management, and basic network security concepts.
- Exposure to vulnerability management, SIEM/SOC technologies, Microsoft security technologies (e.g. Defender) or incident reporting systems (desirable).
- Familiarity with Cyber Essentials, or other recognised security frameworks (desirable).
- Security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CySA+, etc. will be looked on favourably (desirable).
Responsibilities
- Monitor, investigate, and respond to security alerts and incidents.
- Follow established processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure effective incident management.
- Contribute to cyber risk assessments and asset management activities.
- Develop and support wider improvement projects that enhance the Universitys information security posture.
- Collaborate closely with the Security Operations Centre (SOC) and internal IT teams.
