Requirements
Must:
We seek an experienced, hands-on Senior Engineer with specialized skills in developing applications, particularly with a focus on Generative AI and AI/LM technologies. You should have proficiency in working with Large Language Models (LLMs) and be skilled in evaluating, deploying, and using on-premise open-source technology stacks. Proficiency in Azure Cognitive Services, including Azure Language Service, Azure Text Analytics, and Azure Speech Service is essential. A solid understanding of OpenAI's GPT models and their integration with Azure services is required, alongside strong programming skills in Python for data manipulation and Azure services.
You should also have knowledge of databases (e.g., Postgres) and be proficient in back-end programming languages such as NodeJS, Python, and/or Golang. Familiarity with front-end technologies like React or Angular is necessary, along with hands-on skills relating to Backend development. Experience with AWS and GCP is an advantage. You should demonstrate knowledge in Cluster Management with platforms such as Kubernetes, Rancher, Helm, and Docker, and familiarity with Figma for UI mockups.
Having a cloud certification at a developer level or equivalent, Azure AI Certification or equivalent, and familiarity with data engineering and machine learning models will enhance your application. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with experience in open-source projects, third-party libraries, SDKs, and APIs, are also required.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for quickly converting ideas into demonstrations and leading the design and development of Generative AI-based applications. You will work within a Scrum team to develop rapid prototypes and evaluate, select, and integrate essential AI tools and frameworks. Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in generative AI and contributing to research efforts in this field will be crucial.
You will be tasked with learning, evaluating, and leveraging a variety of AI tools and technologies, functioning as both a self-starter and team player. Providing guidance and mentorship to junior AI engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, is also expected. Your focus on quality and productivity using efficient development techniques, standards, and guidelines will be key.
Specific technical responsibilities will include designing, training, fine-tuning, and evaluating ML and NLP models; building and maintaining data pipelines; and implementing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and hybrid search techniques. You will optimize LLM/SLM inference for latency, throughput, and cost, operationalizing models with best practices in MLOps/AIOps. Additionally, you will deploy, scale, and monitor models on Kubernetes and implement security, compliance, and privacy measures for AI systems.
Description
To be successful in this role, you will need a strong grasp of machine learning fundamentals, NLP techniques, and related technologies. Experience training/fine-tuning SLMs/LLMs using various techniques, knowledge of evaluation frameworks, and familiarity with NLP stacks and vector databases are important. Additionally, you should demonstrate proficiency with experiment tracking, model registries, and disciplined experiment design. Your expertise should extend to production monitoring, data engineering, understanding of GPU concepts, and knowledge of AI safety, security, and compliance practices. Having experience with managed AI platforms and multi-cloud deployments will further strengthen your candidacy. At Unisys, you will join a collaborative environment committed to innovation and transformation, working alongside some of the world's most respected organizations.
