Must:
- You should possess significant and proven experience in successfully leading and delivering Continuous Improvement (CI) projects, along with a firm understanding of process improvement techniques such as Systems Thinking, Lean, Lean Six Sigma, and the Lean Competency System, ideally at a black belt level. - You must have substantial experience in Project Management, Business Analysis, and managing Organizational Change. - Strong organizational skills are essential, as you will be responsible for both planning and implementing multiple projects while meeting deadlines. - We expect you to be a strong relationship builder with leadership skills, capable of coaching and mentoring others. Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders and developing effective teams is crucial. - You should have significant experience in developing CI training programs and materials, as well as training individuals at all levels of an organization. - Analytical and critical thinking skills are necessary to approach information with objective analysis and sound reasoning to identify appropriate solutions based on data-driven evidence. - Strong communication skills are required, as you will need to influence coworkers, give presentations, facilitate meetings and training sessions, and produce papers and reports. Experience in cross-functional environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

- I will champion CI throughout UKRI, assisting the Project Delivery and Improvement (PDI) team in identifying and engaging key colleagues to foster ownership of CI initiatives. - My responsibilities will include implementing governance structures and frameworks that balance centralized leadership with distributed ownership, enabling informed decision-making to prioritize and allocate change resources effectively. - I will work to embed a CI culture within UKRI, drawing on existing expertise to promote awareness of the benefits of CI and encouraging innovative approaches to improvement solutions. - I will support the development and lead the implementation of a CI training and development program, which may include on-the-job, near-the-job, and off-the-job elements delivered in a timely manner. - I will maintain a central repository and develop a suite of materials and information to facilitate the sharing of best practices, guidance, tools, and techniques that empower teams across UKRI to streamline and improve processes and services. - I will lead, manage, and track CI initiatives across UKRI, demonstrating a data-driven and evidence-based approach to recommendations and decision-making, ensuring effective change management to maximize the benefits of the initiatives once implemented.

Description


We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced CI professional to join our UKRI Continuous Improvement function within the PDI team on a fixed term contract until March 2027. The position offers a salary of £56,745 per annum and the flexibility of full or part-time hours (minimum 0.8 FTE), with hybrid working available based at Polaris House, Swindon, Wiltshire. We aim to maximize our impact in delivering knowledge with a focus on value for money for taxpayers, and this additional CI Lead role will enhance our current team of two FTEs.
