Requirements
Must:
- GCSEs + related A level or BTEC standard or L3 Apprenticeship.
- Any industry-specific qualifications or certificates.
- 3-5+ years of experience in software development, operations infrastructure support, or platform engineering.
- Extensive experience with CI/CD and/or GitOps toolsets, building automated pipelines and platforms, and infrastructure deploy build exposure.
- Awareness of cloud technologies, ideally AWS & GCP.
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and iterative software development processes.
- Proficient in multiple automation tools including Ansible, Terraform, AWS, GCP, GitLab.
- Experience designing, deploying, and supporting infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Good knowledge of both infrastructure and developer practices.
- Understanding of pipelines and Continuous Integration.
- Knowledge of designing and deploying platform and infrastructure environments.
- Familiarity with containers, serverless architecture, and microservices.
- Understanding of networking principles and security practices.
- Strong leadership skills.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, maintain, and run high-quality automated platforms and pipelines using the latest cloud technologies and automation tools.
- Define, follow, and contribute to good design practices, standards, documentation, and approaches for scalable, secure, and reusable platforms.
- Lead the support and maintenance of infrastructure and platform components to ensure security and compliance.
- Co-author and maintain a catalogue of tools, standards, patterns, and documents that support the use of public cloud platforms, ensuring adherence by other platform engineers.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues and queries related to Cloud platforms and automation tooling.
- Implement logging, monitoring, alerting, backup, and disaster recovery solutions to ensure service level agreements are upheld.
- Mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to team members to help build their skills and confidence.
- Continuously assess and optimize the performance, security, and cost-effectiveness of platform infrastructure.
- Develop skills to support the fast-changing technology landscape and identify relevant technologies for business consumption.
