Requirements

Must:
- 3+ years of experience in software development, with strong proficiency in Python - Experience working with RESTful APIs — building clients, integrating services, and understanding API design principles - Understanding of SQL, database technologies (PostgreSQL, BigQuery), and data modelling principles - Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing, Git-based workflows, code review, and documentation - Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on complex technical challenges - Familiarity with data processing and data validation libraries (pandas, Polars, Pydantic) (desirable) - Familiarity with ORMs (SQLAlchemy) and database migration tools (Alembic) (desirable) - Experience developing and deploying cloud-native solutions using containers (Docker), ideally on Google Cloud (desirable) - Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and GitOps practices (desirable) - Experience working with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor) (desirable) - Experience with AGILE/Scrum based ways-of-working (desirable) - Experience in the energy sector (desirable)

Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain open source and internal services and libraries used by multiple teams across the business - Contribute to reliability, performance, and security through best practices in code quality, testing, and monitoring - Develop self-service software and data products to be used by internal and external stakeholders - Work closely with software and modelling teams to automate tasks and make use of shared services - Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid, reliable deployments - Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) - Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical planning sessions - Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, back-end and data engineering, and modelling, to deliver impactful features - Stay current with industry trends and best practices, bringing new ideas and technologies to the team - Contribute to a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
