Requirements
Must:
- Minimum 12 months hands-on experience in developing complex Python3 automation for production systems
- Experience using Ansible, Puppet or Chef
- Proficiency in Bash and PowerShell scripting for OS-level automation
- Experience automating server, network and storage deployments across multiple vendors
- Background supporting large-scale infrastructure environments
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware/software failures
- Experience working in Agile teams
- Knowledge of advanced Python3/PowerShell features: Workflows, DSC, Bare-Metal Deployment
- Recent professional certification (CCNP, VCP, RHCA/RHCE, OCA or equivalent)
- Strong communication, analytical and critical-thinking skills
- Active SC clearance
- Competent with Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo) is desirable
- Experience in secure or regulated public-sector environments is a plus
- Delivery experience of accredited UK government solutions is a plus
- Degree in Computer Science or related field is desirable
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and validate infrastructure automation components
- Reverse-engineer applications, designs and manual processes into zero-touch automation
- Build parameterised, dynamic automation for consistent multi-environment deployment
- Produce production-grade code aligned with industry and internal standards
- Use Git/Bitbucket for version control and peer review
- Produce and review High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs)
- Support system testing and resolve automation/deployment issues
- Operate within the Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence)
Description
We are the Infrastructure Automation Engineering Service, dedicated to designing, building, and validating automation for a secure, multi-site platform. Our team specializes in Python3-based low-level automation, Ansible deployment logic, Jenkins build pipelines, and Bash/PowerShell scripting, with a focus on hardware automation, service configuration, and integration with REST/SOAP APIs. We offer a full-time, permanent role with a salary range of £50,000 to £70,000, located in a hybrid setting in Corsham, Wiltshire.
