Responsibilities
As the Head of AI & Policy, you will lead the strategic development and implementation of artificial intelligence initiatives across our digital operations. Your role will be crucial in shaping how we adopt, govern, and advocate for responsible AI, ensuring our practices align with evolving standards and regulations. You will also explore the transformative potential of AI in areas such as digital preservation, automated metadata enrichment, and intelligent search.

We are the national library of the UK, dedicated to serving everyone. Our collection includes over 170 million items, and we aim to collect everything published in the UK now and in the future. Our team of trusted experts cares for this collection and helps facilitate new discoveries and remarkable achievements. In addition to a fantastic pension scheme with minimum employer contributions of 28.97%, we offer flexible working hours, allowing you to take up to 5 days of flexi leave within a 3-month period. You will also receive 25 days of holiday plus 8 bank holidays and 2.5 privilege days. This role also qualifies for a digital allowance. The closing date for this position is December 7, 2025.
