Responsibilities
As an Algorithm Engineering Apprentice, you will have the opportunity to refine your skills in designing signal processing and AI algorithms that drive the worlds leading sonar systems. You will collaborate with a diverse team of experts to create complex systems for our customers. Your journey will immerse you in various key areas, including:
- Problem-solving methods and approaches.
- Effective communication skills, focusing on report writing and presentations.
- Knowledge and application of key digital technologies, such as data science or AI/ML.
- Signal processing techniques and information processing.
- Effective algorithm design, implementation, and the importance of verification and validation.
- Foundational concepts in mathematics and physics applied to underwater acoustic systems.
- High-level systems analysis integrating science and mathematics.
- Skills in scientific and numerical programming and scripting languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python).

Join us as a 2026 Algorithm Engineering Apprentice on the Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship program, starting on 07 September 2026, with an annual salary of £24,000. This program will last four years and includes one day per week at Manchester Metropolitan University, where you will work towards a BSc in Digital and Technology Solutions, specializing in Software Engineering.
