Requirements
Must:
- Expert in Azure Databricks, including Spark (SQL, PySpark) and Databricks Workflows.
- Proven experience in scalable ETL/ELT development.
- Proficiency with Azure Services such as Data Lake, Blob Storage, and Synapse.
- Knowledge of Data Governance tools like Unity Catalog, access control, and metadata management.
- Experience in Performance Tuning using techniques like partitioning, caching, and Spark job optimization.
- Familiarity with Cloud Architecture concepts, including infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, and automation.
- Background in finance domain with experience in financial systems and reporting.
- Strong grasp of Data Modeling principles, especially the Kimball methodology and star schemas.
- Retail experience is preferred but not essential.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of scalable data products to support financial analysis and decision-making.
- Build and enhance ETL/ELT pipelines in Azure Databricks.
- Develop facts and dimensions for financial reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust data solutions.
- Optimize data workflows for performance and cost-efficiency.
- Implement governance and security measures using Unity Catalog.
- Drive automation and CI/CD practices across the data platform.
- Explore new technologies to improve data ingestion and enable self-service capabilities.
Description
We are excited to hire a Lead Azure Data Engineer to join our collaborative team on a hybrid contract based in London, focusing on transforming our data platform for key finance stakeholders. This is an incredible opportunity to shape the future of financial reporting through innovative cloud engineering and data architecture. This role offers a rate of £500/day and is classified as outside IR35. We are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible, with interviews scheduled for next week and a contract duration of 6 months, with potential for extension. Our team, comprised of BI Developers and Data Engineers, values curiosity, innovation, and continuous learning.
