Requirements
Must:
- Technical degree (Computer Science, Geospatial Science, Engineering, or related discipline)
- Proven experience designing and building applications using Python
- Strong experience working across multiple operating systems and platforms
- Solid understanding of modern software development practices and tools
- Proven Python Development experience, specifically in a dedicated Python development role (beyond ad-hoc scripting)
- Strong GIS Expertise, with hands-on experience working with GIS concepts and datasets, particularly large raster datasets
- Proficient in programming & tools including Python, Git, and GIS & Geospatial Libraries (Rasterio, GDAL, Shapely or similar)
- Experience with Data & Integrations including REST APIs, JSON, and SQL
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines for large-scale raster, vector, and tabular datasets
- Build and support Python-based applications and geospatial data services
- Integrate external and internal data sources via REST APIs
- Collaborate closely with developers, designers, product owners, business analysts, and systems analysts
- Apply industry best practices for software development, governance, and maintainability
- Work with Quality Assurance teams to ensure high-quality, reliable delivery
- Conduct technical and benefit analysis for IT solutions and contribute to technology direction
- Research, design, implement, and manage new software programs
- Enhance and modify existing systems to improve performance and functionality
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
- Develop and maintain quality assurance procedures
- Support deployment of software tools, processes, and metrics
- Maintain, upgrade, and support existing platforms and services
Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Python Developer with strong GIS expertise to join our team working on geospatial data solutions. This fully remote contract position lasts for 6 months, focusing on the design, development, and support of geospatial data pipelines, applications, and APIs. We prioritize collaboration and innovation in our work, and you will have the opportunity to engage with large-scale datasets and contribute to high-quality software solutions that support data-driven decision-making.
