Must:
We are looking for candidates with extensive experience in technical documentation and authoring. A good understanding of technical source data for systems, sub-systems, and Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) is essential for generating technical descriptions for relevant publications. Experience with Data Module (DM) authoring to an S1000D 4.1 standard, and knowledge of Technical Publications specifications, such as S1000D 4.1 and Def Stan 00-601, is required. Familiarity with configuration management processes for Technical Publications, IETP, and CSDB is important. You should possess excellent attention to detail and have experience using industry-standard software tools, preferably EAGLE LSAR and EAGLE Publishing System. Knowledge of XML Data Module authoring using EAGLE xml editor or equivalent, as well as experience with Trilogibuild, is desirable.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will request, gather, and assess the required source logistic information from equipment suppliers to inform the technical publications. You will undertake Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) on electronic computing and communication systems, including various radios and masts. You'll be responsible for authoring Data modules from the MTA and other publications, including operating procedures and training material, which will also involve creating technical drawings. Liaising with the Training Team to assist with training content will be part of your duties, as well as helping in the creation and maintenance of the Data Modules. You will also author and update the full suite of descriptive, procedural, and IPD data modules to populate the Common Source Database (CSDB) and proofread and review data modules produced by other team members using the CSDB workflow.

We are currently looking to recruit two Technical Authors for a six-month contract based in Christchurch, Dorset. We offer a competitive hourly pay rate, an Inside IR35 work engagement, and a hybrid working arrangement of three days in Christchurch and two days from home.
