We are looking for candidates with a strong background in Platform Engineering or similar roles (such as DevOps or Infrastructure development), showcasing hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Candidates should be comfortable working in hybrid environments, particularly within secure and regulated technical landscapes.
It is highly advantageous for applicants to have experience in Defence, Security, or similar fields and to possess a solid understanding of security considerations, compliance expectations, and operational tooling.
Key experience we value includes:
- Cloud or DevOps certifications
- Proficiency with Terraform, Ansible, or similar automation frameworks
- Familiarity with structured governance or architectural review processes
- Working knowledge of incident management and complex operational support models

Responsibilities
In this hands-on role, your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and refining platform services across hybrid environments, ensuring security, stability, and maintainability.
- Improving and standardizing automated deployment processes to assist teams in delivering faster and with greater consistency.
- Enhancing observability tooling and contributing to proactive operations.
- Collaborating with reliability and operational teams to ensure uptime and performance across critical workloads.
- Supporting incident response, troubleshooting, and long-term service improvements.
- Providing expert guidance on platform patterns, tooling choices, and best practices in engineering approaches.
- Sharing knowledge with other engineering teams to support skill uplift and maintain consistent delivery standards.
- Contributing to architectural decisions and technical governance.
- Exploring emerging technologies to assess how they may strengthen platform resilience and capability.

Description
This contract position is outside of IR35 and is focused on Defence and Security initiatives in Hampshire. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in strengthening and modernizing complex platform environments that support sensitive operational systems. Please note that the nature of the project requires work to be carried out onsite, and successful candidates will need to obtain security clearance (SC Level) prior to appointment.
