We are looking for a Lead Python Developer with strong expertise in Python development and proven leadership skills. You should have the capability to drive development projects and mentor junior developers. Familiarity with Core Python and web frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI is essential. Additionally, you should possess SQL Server database experience, including developing and optimizing databases, conducting data analysis, and ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.
Experience with AWS Cloud Services and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform is required. You should also have the ability to design and implement serverless architectures, including the use of Docker containers. Collaboration with Front-End Developers using JavaScript, CSS, and HTML to create seamless user interfaces is crucial. A solid understanding of software development best practices, exception handling, data structures, and object-oriented programming (OOP) is also necessary.
Responsibilities
As the Lead Python Developer, you will take the lead in designing and developing complex applications. You will mentor junior developers in coding standards, Github version control, and code tracking. Your role will involve overseeing the integration of various software components and debugging and troubleshooting applications. You will implement best practices in software development and ensure high-quality code through unit and API testing.
You will also collaborate closely with front-end teams to deliver cohesive applications and ensure a smooth integration of back-end services with user-facing elements.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a leading global IT transformation business that specializes in large-scale Government and Public Sector projects. This position is based in Leeds and offers hybrid working arrangements, allowing for three days of remote work and two days on-site per week. We are offering a competitive salary of up to £80,000 (depending on experience), along with an annual bonus, pension, 22 days of holiday plus bank holidays (rising to 25 days), Death in Service benefits, a Health Care Plan, and more. We are looking to fill this position soon, with a start date as early as Autumn 2025.
