Requirements
Must:
We require a candidate with a strong knowledge of Secure by Design principles and experience in system security engineering, ideally in sectors such as defence, space, or critical infrastructure. Familiarity with MOD, NCSC, and ISO standards (e.g., ISO 27001/2, NIST 800-series, JSP 604) is essential. You should possess competence in requirements engineering and systems thinking, along with practical experience in security within software and/or system development environments. Effective communication and report-writing skills are necessary, and you should be able to work independently as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. Desirably, candidates will have certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or relevant NCSC-certified qualifications, experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE), familiarity with formal security assurance processes, and an understanding of space system architectures or satellite communications. Additionally, awareness or experience in DevSecOps and security automation would be beneficial.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead and deliver Cyber Security work packages to our clients, applying Systems Engineering methodologies to develop Cyber solutions. You will be responsible for risk identification and management, including requirements capture, validation, and verification. This includes ensuring the technical integrity of client deliverables such as Security Management Plans and Security Case Reports, utilizing Secure by Design principles throughout the project lifecycle. You will also develop Verification Plans, Validation Test Schedules, and reports, as well as Penetration Test Remedial Action Plans. Additionally, you will manage risk appetite and perform risk analysis assessments. Supporting our Sales and Business Development team, you will contribute to winning work through proposal generation and client meetings. Representing Synoptix at conferences and symposia, you will lead Cyber security-related research programs alongside academia. You will be actively involved in customer-facing security working groups and will assist in the continuous development of our Cyber security capability.
