Requirements

Must:
- GCSE Maths and English Grade 5 or above (A-C) - Level 2 IT qualification (e.g. ECDL) - Evidence of successful further education - Experience in managing sensitive and complex enquiries - Flexibility to meet the demands of the role - Ability to work and travel across all sites - Capability to work under pressure when appropriate - Strong ability to interpret data - Excellent attention to detail and accuracy - Excellent administrative and organisational skills - Highly self-motivated and able to work independently while being a collaborative team player - Strong resolution skills for managing and prioritising conflicting deadlines - Good level of physical fitness to carry and move equipment (e.g. printers, computers, monitors) - Versatility and adaptability within changing environments - Customer service experience with excellent written and verbal communication skills - Ability to logically analyse and document problems, deciding on the best course of action - Ability to explain complex technical issues in accessible language for staff with limited computer experience - Effectiveness in a stressful environment while maintaining composure - Friendly demeanor with good manners at all times - Good presentation skills for training groups of staff - Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications - Good troubleshooting abilities for hardware and software peripherals - Demonstrated tact, diplomacy, empathy, and critical negotiation skills

Responsibilities

- Logically and systematically analyse, prioritise, and record Laboratory IT issues raised by service users. - Resolve complex technical issues immediately or escalate them to the appropriate second-line specialist within the team where necessary. - Ensure that all issues are addressed within agreed time constraints. - Provide advice, training, and assistance to users to help them resolve technical issues and use Laboratory IT systems correctly. - Offer first-line support for Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and all hardware and software across pathology, ensuring timely resolution of any problems. - Collaborate with other members of the Pathology IT Team to provide a comprehensive, high-quality service to all users and customers, demonstrating good communication and teamwork practices.

We are excited to invite you to join our IT Service team as an IT Assistant on a permanent, full-time contract. This role is ideal for individuals who are committed to delivering exceptional patient and customer service and thrive in a collaborative environment where knowledge sharing is essential. As a key member of the Pathology IT Service team, you will provide crucial support for all Pathology systems and work closely with our laboratory colleagues at the Hub and two Essential Service Laboratories (ESLs). You will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability of our systems and delivering essential information to our service users, directly contributing to effective healthcare delivery. This position is based in person at our Hub lab site on Lisieux Way, with the possibility of working at one of our ESL sites as required.
