Requirements
Must:
- Expert SQL: You write complex, performant queries and understand the under the hood mechanics of cloud data warehouses (specifically GCP BigQuery)
- dbt Specialist: Strong hands-on experience with dbt Cloud or Core is essential
- Modelling Pro: You understand dimensional modelling and how to structure data for varied business use cases
- CI/CD Native: Youre comfortable with branching, merging, rebasing, and resolving conflicts in a professional development environment
- Analytical Detective: You have the lineage mindset-the ability to trace data flows backward to find and fix the root cause of an issue
- Experience in Agile environments (Nice-to-Have)
- Familiarity with BI tools (like Tableau) (Nice-to-Have)
- Background in Performance Tuning and cost optimization within GCP (Nice-to-Have)
- A Community mindset, mentoring others or contributing to internal forums and meetups (Nice-to-Have
Responsibilities
- Architecting the Truth: Design and implement scalable business-layer models, marts, and OBTs
- Owning the Lifecycle: Turn business requirements into technical reality, developing, testing, documenting, and deploying via CI/CD
- Enforcing Excellence: Act as the gatekeeper for SQL and dbt standards while leading code reviews focused on logic, consistency, and maintainability
- Security & Integrity: Implement tests to ensure data quality and safety of PII through masking, hashing, and access control
- Deep-Dive Problem Solving: Trace data lineage from source to BI layer to debug failures independently
- Performance & Cost Ops: Identify refactoring opportunities and optimize query performance and cloud costs using BigQuery tools
- Stakeholder Storytelling: Communicate technical why in simple business terms to ensure downstream teams understand model changes
