Requirements
Must:
- Strong hands-on experience in GCP Networking (VPC, subnets, firewall, routing, peering)
- Expertise in Hybrid Connectivity (Cloud VPN, Interconnect)
- Proficiency with Terraform / Terraform Cloud for Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Python scripting skills for automation
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub, Harness) for network automation
- Knowledge of GCP Organization Policy and policy-as-code frameworks (Sentinel / OPA)
- GCP Certified (preferably Professional Cloud Network Engineer)
- Experience with IDE platforms for Cloud Engineering (e.g., Backstage)
- Demonstrated senior engineering skills as GCP Cloud SMEs and Technical Consultants
- Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership abilities across organizational stakeholders
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage GCP Virtual Data Center (VDC) network architecture for enterprise workloads
- Configure and maintain VPCs, subnets, firewalls, routing, and peering for secure and scalable connectivity
- Implement Hybrid Connectivity solutions (Cloud VPN, Interconnect) for on-prem and multi-cloud integration
- Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for network resources using Terraform / Terraform Cloud
- Automate network provisioning and configuration workflows using Python scripting
- Enforce GCP Organization Policies for network security and compliance including IP restrictions, encryption, and access control
- Integrate network deployments into CI/CD pipelines for automated provisioning and updates
- Implement policy-as-code guardrails for network governance using Sentinel or OPA
- Optimize network performance and reliability through monitoring, logging, and proactive tuning
- Collaborate with security teams to implement network security best practices such as firewall rules, private access, and service perimeter
- Support migration of legacy network configurations into unified, reusable templates
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues across GCP VDC environments
Description
We are looking to recruit a Senior GCP VDC Network Engineer to be part of our Public Cloud Platform, helping us achieve our mission to provide compliant and efficient Google Cloud Infrastructure, product, and DevOps capabilities. This role is crucial for driving innovation that enables our customers to rapidly adopt Google Cloud and enhance their business journeys. You will join a cross-disciplinary feature team and engage with our wider engineering team. We value a diverse culture and offer opportunities to learn new skills and technologies. This position can be located in Bristol, Leeds, Halifax, Manchester, or Edinburgh, with a flexible work arrangement of 2 days in the office.
