Requirements
Must:
- UK SC clearance is required for this role.
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD Pipelines, GitHub Repos, ARM Templates, Azure CLI, Terraform, and PowerShell.
- Availability to start the role immediately.
- Willingness to provide on-call support.
- Experience working with Virtual Desktop Support teams, providing direct end-user support.
- In-depth understanding of Azure Virtual Desktop architecture and design best practices.
- Proficiency in administration of AVD environments, including Resource Groups, Host Pools, VM Images, Application Access, and User Access.
- Experience administering AVD multi-user environments, including user customization via FSLogix & NetApp (or equivalent).
- Ability to work remotely with occasional ad-hoc travel to Gloucester Business Park.
Responsibilities
- Conduct application compatibility testing for AWS workspace to AVD migration.
- Migrate AWS workspaces with Windows 2016 OS.
- Carry out UAT and pilot testing of workspaces to AVD.
- Identify and resolve migration issues while maintaining the issue tracker.
- Migrate workspaces for Standard and Developer instances to AVD.
- Provide hyper-care support during and post-migration.
- Create migration documents for handover to BAU teams.
- Run, operate, and develop the AVD environment.
- Maintain and manage the Windows environment hosted in AVD.
- Oversee policies/configuration supporting AVD and manage Azure Virtual Desktop infrastructure.
- Administer host pools, images, user/application access, and resource groups.
- Support and customize multi-user environments using FSLogix & NetApp (or equivalent).
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery across AVD components.
- Develop and execute Infrastructure as Code pipelines using Terraform and PowerShell.
- Maintain and manage CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Repos.
- Foster competency in the team and cross-skill junior SMEs.
- Participate in ad-hoc travel to Gloucester Business Park.
Description
We are looking for an Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) SME to join our team, responsible for the migration of AWS workspaces to AVD within a three-month timeframe. You will engage in the operation and development of the AVD environment for both developers and standard users globally. The role includes supporting and administering the Azure Virtual Desktop estate while ensuring its security, performance, and high availability. You will handle both Single and Multisession AVDs, managed through the Azure Portal, alongside Infrastructure as Code practices using tools such as Terraform, Azure CLI, ARM Templates, and PowerShell Scripts.
