Must:
We require that you have commercial mobile development experience in iOS and Swift. A proven track record with Swift Package Manager (SPM) is essential, along with a comfort level in test-driven development. While not mandatory, prior experience in writing and distributing libraries, an understanding of Hexagonal architecture, and experience developing media players for mobile platforms would be advantageous. We value a strong pair programming and teamwork attitude, with professional experience in Agile Scrum development processes being a plus. You should enjoy collaborating with other engineers, exhibit a strong willingness to learn, and take responsibility for writing technical documentation.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will focus on the development of our mobile media player component, which serves as the core playback engine for all video and audio content. Your tasks will include migrating our codebase from CocoaPods to SPM, modernizing internal Swift libraries, re-architecting based on future shared components strategy, and integrating functionalities developed by other teams. You will work closely with engineering leadership and mentor junior colleagues on best practices and development workflows, ensuring a collaborative environment that values excellent communication.
Description
This position is based in Salford, with a hybrid work model requiring 1-2 days in the office each week. We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer who has a deep understanding of modern iOS development and a history of delivering complex projects. You should hold a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or possess similar work experience. Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on media-related projects is preferred. The contract duration is until the end of March 2026, with the possibility of extension.
