Requirements
Must:
- Strong background in infrastructure architecture
- Deep experience designing enterprise-scale hosting platforms
- Proficiency with modern server infrastructure
- Familiarity with virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, AHV)
- Experience in hyperconverged platforms (Nutanix, Azure Stack HCI)
- Knowledge of traditional physical server design
- Hands-on experience in hybrid environments (Azure, AWS)
- Familiarity with automation and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell DSC)
- Experience in centralised data centre setups and distributed edge/store environments
- Previous work in retail or supply chain environments (preferred)
- Experience leading modernisation or cost-optimisation initiatives (preferred)
- Knowledge of observability tools (Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Exposure to frameworks like ITIL, IT4IT, TOGAF (advantageous)
Responsibilities
- Architect and design secure, scalable, high-performing infrastructure
- Build, migrate, and test infrastructure and identity services
- Define server and infrastructure operations across various environments
- Act as the design authority for core infrastructure services
- Ensure adherence to architectural patterns and sound design decisions
- Shape platform roadmaps and explore emerging technologies
- Assess options for major change programmes (server refresh, data centre exit, cloud transformation)
- Collaborate with Platform Owners, SMEs, and Engineers
- Partner with Solution Architects and project teams to meet design requirements
- Prioritise resilience, observability, and security in all designs
