Requirements

- Must be a British citizen or hold dual nationality.
- Must have been a resident in the UK for at least two of the last five years.
- DV Clearance is required; candidates must be able to obtain the necessary level of clearance if not already held.
- Working knowledge of various operating systems, including Windows and Linux.
- Experience with SIEM and IPS products within a SOC environment.
- Relevant cyber security analyst experience within a SOC.
- Knowledge of IT networking, specifically firewalls and other network security devices.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to manipulate, interrogate, and analyze large data sets.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a team of Cyber Engineers and Cyber Analysts to perform level 1 triage analysis duties.
- Monitor, triage, and investigate security alerts using various monitoring tools to identify potential security incidents.
- Escalate suspected security incidents to lead analysts.
- Assist lead analysts and the incident response team with investigation and containment efforts.
- Stay updated on technology and cyber threats through reading threat intelligence reports, attending briefings, and self-study.
- Analyze security event data and alerts to support customers in responding to security incidents.
- Ensure protective monitoring tools are functioning as expected.
- Help create procedures to report incidents to customers.
- Contribute to the development of the team to ensure best practices and up-to-date knowledge.
- Provide on-call support to investigate and remedy security and technical issues related to the SOC service on a 24/7 basis.

Description
We are a government client seeking an experienced level 1 SOC Practitioner Analyst for a full-time, six-month contract position. The role will initially be based in Milton Keynes with a hybrid work model requiring 60% onsite presence. The daily rate is £364.65 (PAYE) or £503.23 (Umbrella), with the position being inside IR35. Short-listed candidates will undergo vetting procedures before receiving a formal job offer, which may take 6-8 weeks.
