- Strong functional testing background within Agile/Scrum teams.
- Comfortable owning product quality end-to-end.
- Good at shaping acceptance criteria and clarifying requirements.
- Solid test design skills with confidence in logs and debugging.
- Experience with complex systems (embedded, networking, telecoms, or similar).
- Ability to write or extend automated checks (Python/C#).
- Some experience guiding other testers.
- Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
- Clean driving license, car, passport; occasional travel required.
- Ability to obtain Security Clearance in the future.

Responsibilities
- Conduct embedded software testing within one scrum team: review stories, check behaviours, and identify gaps.
- Perform functional and exploratory testing to dig into features.
- Spot issues early by tracing them through logs and collaborate with developers to fix them.
- Add automation for key scenarios.
- Supply tests and data into CI pipelines.
- Report on what’s ready, what isn’t, and what needs attention.
- Support testers across multiple teams with guidance and hands-on help.
- Keep testing approaches consistent and sensible.
- Assist teams in planning workloads, understanding risks, and preparing for releases.
- Serve as the go-to person for functional quality questions.
- Encourage good habits such as clearer stories, better test design, and cleaner reporting.

We are a long-standing client in the communications industry looking for a Test Lead following an internal restructure. This role is embedded within a software delivery team, ensuring that what we build truly works while helping other teams understand how to achieve the same. If you are passionate about being hands-on, assisting others, and ensuring everything functions correctly without drawing attention to yourself, this could be the ideal role for you. You’ll enjoy working in a collaborative environment while making a significant impact on our product quality. The position allows for 1 day of working from home each week and offers a competitive salary of up to £75,000.
