Requirements
Must:
- A solid background in software development (e.g., .NET, Java, or similar), with the ability to understand code-level implications and technical constraints.
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst within retail or omnichannel environments.
- Strong understanding of retail systems architecture, integrations, APIs, and data flows.
- Experience working with Agile delivery teams and modern engineering practices (CI/CD, cloud platforms, microservices).
- Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex technical concepts into clear business language and vice versa.
- A proactive, detail-oriented mindset with a passion for improving processes and delivering high-quality solutions.
- Experience with major retail platforms (e.g., Oracle Retail, SAP, Salesforce Commerce, Manhattan, custom in-house systems).
- Knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) and modern integration patterns.
- Familiarity with data analytics tools or SQL for deeper investigation and validation.
- A Computer Science or related technical degree (2:1 or above).
- A willingness to work on client site 1-2 days per week (the rest remote).
Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand operational challenges and translate them into clear, actionable technical requirements.
- Work hands-on with engineering teams, leveraging your software development background to validate feasibility, shape solution design, and support delivery.
- Lead end-to-end analysis across retail applications such as POS, OMS, ERP, stock management, pricing, promotions, and customer experience platforms.
- Map current and future-state processes, identifying gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for automation or optimisation.
- Support backlog creation, user story refinement, acceptance criteria definition, and sprint planning.
- Collaborate with QA to ensure test coverage aligns with business and technical expectations.
- Contribute to data-driven decision making through analysis, modelling, and insight generation.
- Champion best practices in documentation, requirements management, and cross-functional communication.
Description
We are a consulting business specializing in the architecture and delivery of applications for enterprise scale retailers. We are looking for a Technical Business Analyst with a strong software development background and deep experience across retail applications to join our team. This role enables you to work closely with product managers, architects, and development squads to shape requirements, optimize retail systems, and ensure our technology delivers measurable value across stores, digital channels, and supply chain operations. The position offers a competitive package (£65k-75k) and is based in London with 80% remote working.
