Requirements
Must:
- Hands-on experience with static and dynamic application security testing tools
- Strong understanding of OWASP principles and their use within threat modelling
- Experience conducting and reporting on web application penetration testing
- Knowledge of software development practices and common programming languages
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and associated security tooling
- Experience performing manual and automated code reviews
- Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to work closely with developers
Responsibilities
- Focus on securing applications across the organisation
- Analyse code, supply chains, and application designs to identify and mitigate risk early
- Work closely with Software Development teams to ensure application-based vulnerabilities are understood, prioritised, and remediated effectively
- Contribute to threat modelling, penetration testing, secure design reviews, and the continuous improvement of security testing methodologies
- Enhance existing security processes through automation and the responsible use of AI
- Support senior team members and mentor junior colleagues
- Take an active role in projects to ensure security is considered from design through to delivery
- Contribute to and improve application security testing methodologies and documentation
- Support development teams to embed security throughout the development lifecycle
- Contribute to supply chain assurance and dependency risk management
- Perform risk assessments, threat modelling, and secure design reviews
- Identify opportunities to convert manual security tasks into automated processes
Description
We are a well-established organisation focused on secure software delivery, and we are excited to expand our Application Security capability. This hybrid role can be based in Manchester or Stoke-on-Trent, offering a salary of up to £80,000 depending on experience. You will have the opportunity to influence application security practices at scale and gain exposure to modern application security tooling and AI-enhanced security processes. We maintain a supportive and collaborative security and engineering culture, working closely with modern software development teams to embed security throughout the application lifecycle.
