We are looking for a candidate who possesses a degree-level MEng qualification in a relevant subject, ideally Electronics or Electrical Engineering, though qualifications in other relevant fields will also be considered. Additionally, the successful applicant will have at least 3 years of experience in embedded software development, particularly in acoustics, sonar, or sensor-based systems. A strong background in ARM-based processors and low-level programming is essential, along with proficiency in C, C++, and Python for embedded applications. Hands-on expertise with real-time constraints, RTOS, and signal processing algorithms is required, as well as experience with secure boot, system security, and firmware updates. Familiarity with Linux kernel development, Linux architecture, Yocto, and PetaLinux is also expected.
Responsibilities
As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will play a key role within our multi-disciplinary small design team, specializing in areas such as acoustics, imaging, vision, mechanical design, electronic hardware design, embedded software design, and application software development. Your primary responsibilities will include developing and optimizing low-level drivers and firmware for acoustic sensors and sonar systems, configuring and customizing Yocto and PetaLinux for real-time embedded applications, and implementing secure boot mechanisms, OTA updates, and firmware authentication. You will work with real-time processing algorithms for sonar and acoustic signal acquisition, develop embedded software in C, C++, and Python while ensuring efficient hardware utilization, and write test benches for simulation and testing. You will also be responsible for achieving timing closure and keeping the design team updated with the latest advancements in embedded development.
