Requirements

Must:
- Strong communication and collaboration skills - Demonstrable experience designing digital services within GDS / GOV.UK frameworks - Strong prototyping skills using tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar - Solid understanding of accessibility, usability, and inclusive design principles - Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary teams, ideally within a consultancy setting - User-focused, problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail - Ability to manage multiple pieces of work and priorities effectively Desirable Skills and Experience: - Experience working for a digital or management consultancy - Previous delivery experience within central government, local government, healthcare, or wider public sector organisations - Familiarity with design systems, component libraries, and style guides - Experience working closely with content designers and service designers - Understanding of front-end development constraints and technical feasibility - Experience using collaboration and delivery tools such as Jira and Confluence

Responsibilities

- Design intuitive, accessible, and user-centred digital interfaces aligned to the GDS Service Manual and GOV.UK Design System - Produce low- and high-fidelity wireframes, visual designs, and interactive prototypes to communicate design ideas effectively - Contribute to user-centred design activities across the full service lifecycle (discovery, alpha, beta, and live) - Work closely with UX Researchers to translate user research findings into well-informed design solutions - Collaborate with developers to ensure designs are implemented accurately and meet usability and accessibility standards - Take part in agile ceremonies, design reviews, and stakeholder workshops - Ensure designs meet WCAG accessibility standards and inclusive design best practices - Support the ongoing improvement of design processes, patterns, and documentation
