We are looking for a Senior User Researcher with extensive experience in leading research on digital services or emerging technologies. You should have proven hands-on experience conducting research on AI/LLM products or data-driven services. A strong knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative research methods, including statistical analysis, is essential. You must possess the ability to evaluate AI/LLM model performance and outputs from a user-centered and compliance perspective. Additionally, we value your skill in presenting complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, thereby building consensus and influencing decisions. Experience in government, regulated environments, or large-scale digital transformation programs is desirable. A strong understanding of accessibility, privacy, and safeguarding requirements in digital service delivery is expected. You must either hold or be eligible for SC clearance for this position.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead the planning, design, and execution of user research activities for AI/LLM-powered services. You will apply mixed-methods research (qualitative and quantitative) to capture user needs, behaviors, and expectations in complex, high-transaction environments. Furthermore, you will evaluate and provide recommendations for training data collection, categorization, and labeling from a user-centered perspective. Testing and assessing AI/LLM model outputs against user requirements, accessibility standards, and regulatory frameworks will be part of your responsibilities. You will collaborate with AI engineers, designers, and product teams to translate research findings into actionable design and development decisions. Prototyping and testing new human-AI interaction patterns while ensuring transparency, oversight, and trust will be crucial. You will also champion inclusive research practices, ensuring that accessibility, safeguarding, and privacy are prioritized. Leading stakeholder workshops, service assessments, and contributing to cross-government user research communities of practice will be a key aspect of your role.
Description
This position is outside IR35 with a pay range of £475 - £525. It is an initial 5-month contract with a likelihood of extension and offers an ASAP start. The role involves traveling to London once a week or once every two weeks.
