Requirements
Must:
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS, CDK, and Projen in TypeScript.
- Proficient in EKS, ECR, VPC, IAM, and Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Experience with Kubernetes, specifically EKS and k3s, along with kubectl, Helm, Lens, and k9s.
- Advanced skills in Docker, including arm64 and amd64 images, Alpine, and Ubuntu.
- Expertise in Python for building tools and data grabbers, with knowledge of Jinja and Conda/pip environments.
- Advanced proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript, particularly with Node.js and React.
- Strong SQL skills, specifically in PostgreSQL, PL/pgSQL, indexing, partitioning, and pg_partman.
- Familiarity with Git-first workflow and GitHub Actions for CI and data jobs.
- Experience operating and tuning Apache Superset on AWS, including extending its functionalities as needed.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools like ECharts or similar for static analytics.
- Strong networking skills, particularly with WireGuard site-to-site and client VPNs.
- Advanced Linux power user and administration skills.
Responsibilities
- I will maintain and improve our AWS infrastructure using CDK and Projen, enforcing code quality and security while managing access.
- I will run and secure Kubernetes workloads on EKS, monitoring and troubleshooting containers as necessary.
- I will operate Apache Superset and maintain our custom Python tooling, integrating SSO with Azure AD via AWS AD Connector.
- I will build and manage data pipelines, utilizing Python grabbers on EKS, along with logging, monitoring, and alerts. Additionally, I will work on dbt models and continuous integration with GitHub Actions.
- I will administer Aurora PostgreSQL, scaling clusters, optimizing SQL, and implementing partitioning with pg_partman as required.
- I will export web analytics data from Superset or PostgreSQL to static JSON and render charts on our website using ECharts.
Description
This is a full-time role based in London with the option for remote work. We’re seeking to onboard someone as soon as possible for what will be a long-term engagement. You will be joining our team as we build a new commodities trading desk, with the opportunity to work closely alongside our newly onboarded Technical Director, becoming a key senior technical specialist in the process.
