Requirements
Must:
- Strong experience across the full software development lifecycle, specifically with Python on the back end and JavaScript on the front end (ideally with React or TypeScript).
- Confidence in working with multi-tiered architecture via APIs and experience with serverless AWS setups, including Lambda, S3, SQS, and API Gateway.
- Solid technical leadership or line management experience.
- Ability to guide standards, processes, and best practices within engineering.
- Experience in the energy sector is desirable but not essential.
- Must be located within a commutable distance to our Oxford office.
Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering function of a small to medium-sized software team.
- Take ownership of technical direction, standards, tooling, and delivery quality.
- Coach and develop junior and mid-level engineers.
- Oversee back-end-focused work within an agile sprint cycle.
- Support future hiring as the role progresses into Head of Software/Development.
- Work in our Oxford office 2-3 days per week.

This role provides ownership, a clear progression path, and the ability to shape the growth of our business. We are a PaaS solutions developer for the energy sector, currently on a brilliant growth trajectory and led by a leadership team with extensive experience in the UK Energy and Tech sectors. In this position, youll be taking charge of our engineering function across a team of thirteen, leaning towards back-end work in a small and currently self-managing team. As you grow into this role, youll have clear structured progression into a Head of position, where youll play a key role not only in technical development but also in hiring and scaling the team.
